1948 Seagrave Aerial

The truck was purchased new by the Urbana Fire department and was in service
until 1968. In 1970 it was replaced with a new Pirsch 75' aerial.
After bieng replaced it was sold to a volunteer affiliate of the fire
department for the sum of $1.00. The truck remained stored at the fire
department for several years before being moved to a members home. The truck
was then sold to a couple in Indiana who in turn sold it to another Indiana
resident.

The truck is a 1948 Seagrave aerial model no. 66EA, serial number D2663.
The truck also has along with the ladder a 750gpm pump and a 150 gallon water tank.

A current member of the volunteer organization is the son of the former
chief. His father kept very accurate records and he was able to locate the
current owner. After conversing via email we were told that the truck was for sale.
Three of us made the two hour trip to see the truck. After viewing the truck
and settling on a price of $500.00 we bought it.

The V12 is locked up and will need some major work.
Now we have to figure out the logistics of getting it back to Urbana.
It makes all of us feel very proud to know that we will be bringing a piece
of history home to our department.
We have written Seagrave in order to obtain any historical information they
may have.
