Montvale, NJ Fire Department
1935 Seagrave

This unit was the first new apparatus purchased by the department, and was in service until the late '70s when it ended up sitting behind the borough garage for about a year. It was then donated to the NJ State Firemen's Home Museum in Boonton, where it stayed until 1994.
The borough was having a centennial party that year, and the Montvale F.D. asked the museum if they could have the truck back so that they could put it in the parade. The museum said yes. After it was hauled it home one thing led to another and the department decided to restore it. The fire department formed a committee to run the operation and to work on getting contributions and donations.
The department started on a complete frame up restoration in January '95, and got the truck back on the road in June 2000. As with any project of this nature, you are never done, and the fire department is still working on some small details.
The picture was taken last August, and shows the truck in it's current condition.
