This is a 1963 Seagrave with a 1000 gallons per minute pump and 500 gallon water tank. The rig originally was powered by a Waukesha engine and 5 speed transmission. It was purchased new by the Dix Hills Volunteer Fire Dept in Long Island NY. and the department ran it from 1963 to 1994.

During that time the engine was involved in a accident at the scene of a house fire and it turns out that it was rear-ended by the owners of the home that was on fire.

In 1977 the engine was refurbished and painted white over red. It was re-powered with a Detroit Diesel and Allison automatic transmission.

In 1994 it was sold to the Wayne Harrison Eastern Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department in Gosport, IN. The volunteer fire department ran the rig from 1994 to 2001. In 1998 the engine along with a F-model Maxim (2nd out engine) fought a major fire in a vacant creosote factory.

The department put the engine up for sale in 2000. When it didn't sell the department put the rig into reserve status. It turns out that during its reserve time period it developed a few problems with the power steering. Justin explains, "when you would turn the steering wheel it would pop and start turning on its own". The department rebuilt the power steering unit several times, but the rig still had a problem.

In 2001 Justin purchased the engine from the volunteer fire department for $1,500.00 and drove it straight home while fighting the power steering. After he got the engine home he drained the power steering fluid and he says, "it looked like it had burned power steering fluid in it". Upon investigation and good mechanics it revealed that power steering fluid had been used in the unit and not type A Automatic Transmission Fluid as required. After the system was cleaned and serviced to free up all the valves the unit worked fine.

In 2001 it was shown at The World Police and Fire Games in Indianapolis and it also appeared at the SPAAMFAA National Convention in Indianapolis.
