David W. Horsnall
1929 Seagrave Tractor Drawn Ladder
David W. Horsnall of Cream Ridge, New Jersey is the proud owner of this outstanding piece of history as well as a few other notable pieces of antique and vintage fire apparatus. Dave works for 3M Corporation in the Commercial Graphics Division. When Dave isn't selling machinery and film, or showing off his fire apparatus collection, he spends what's left of his time smoking his cigar and waiting for retirement.

The 1929 Seagrave Tiller (#55380) served the community of Wellesley Massachusetts before being sold to Hamdem, Connecticut. Its bed ladder is 75' long and is stored with a full complement of Seagrave truss ground ladders. The ladder is spring raised and manually extended and retracted.
The ladder is very much original with few changes. The truck sports a PTO pump (very innovative for the time) and a water tank under the tractors seat. The truck is powered by the F6 motor and three speed transmission. Top speed is about 20 miles per hour. Fuel consumption is 1 mile to the gallon.

Each firefighter was assigned a compartment on the ladder to store necessary items for fire fighting and protecting themselves from the cold Northeast winters.

A very impressive piece of firefighting history.

David W, David C, and friend Bernie at the Lakehurst Muster at Lake Horicon in 2002. The truck is being supplied by GoodWill Fire Company (Spring Lake, NJ) 1930 Seagrave.
